Archie Del Mundo is a Filipino writer and assistant director. His profile includes film criticism, reporting, and writing.

Honestly speaking, doing several research and readings from Del Mundo, we didn’t get much of his personal background. You will definitely observe that he is a private personality. He doesn’t put his biographical data on any online resources, might as well in books. Based on observations, you will probably notice that almost all local critics here in the Philippines are not that vocal and transparent in terms of their personal backgrounds. You seldom see and read complete details of Filipino critics in your resources, that’s maybe because their main focus is for readers or researchers like us to put our attention on their work. They are not to be known for their credentials but for their unique masterpieces in the making.

Maestra (An Educator) is a Lemuel Lorca’s 7th film. It will pay tribute to educators whose life-long struggle is highlighted by their unwavering commitment to their profession. the film will also feature inspiring real-life stories of Gennie Panguelo, an Aeta-Ilocana who had taught in a school situated on top of Pinatubo Valley for more than 25 years before finally passing the board after more than 20 retakes; and Espie Bautista, a former high school principal, a college dean, and an inspirational speaker who is now more than 80 years old and even past beyond her years, still refuses to retire from teaching. Gawad Urian Best Actress awardee Angeli Bayani portrays the role of Panguelo by religiously learning the Mag-Anchi Ayta Language. Maestra is produced by Dr. Carl Balita of Carl Balita Review Center, who also moonlights as a radio host and entrepreneur. Adolf Alix’s Nars is his first film production.

Archie Del Mundo wrote the screenplay, and as with Lorca’s, this is the film he is most proud of. Del Mundo used to be a teacher; while Lorca’s mother is a retired school district superintendent to whom he dedicates his latest film.

Another famous work of Del Mundo was a review on the 2015 Filipino crime, thriller, and drama film Honor Thy Father directed by Erik Matti starring John Lloyd Cruz. The world created by the film makers of Honor Thy Father seems fit for a zombie thriller. Everyone seems to have died long ago with their vapid submission to greed and religion. These walking dead are merely functioning through the noxious incitements of promised salvation and the comforts of traditional family and revered institution no matter how questioning their landscapes have become. Erik Matti has always been one of the most visually profound filmmakers in the Philippines. He needs no long and winding expositions, nor serviceable dialogues to drive home the drama. His masterful dramatic spades, fluid and inimitable, are raring to be studied in scholarly fashions. In Honor Thy Father, a film effort that does not go with the pretense of perfection, Matti successfully goes beyond the trappings of the genre, or even the artifices of independent film making.

Del Mundo practices skills on the fields of journalism, film, creative writing, and blogging. Some of his famous works and contributions were screenplays in Filipino independent films and movie reviews. He has been in the film industry as a writer. He is known for T.P.O (2016), Taksikab (2011), and Ang Misis ni Meyor (2013).
